In honor of the 20th anniversary special of “Hannah Montana” (feeling old yet?), we can’t help but join in on taking a walk down memory lane. The Internet is already having a field day with nostalgic memes, epic collabs (we need everything from the STONEY CLOVER x Hannah Montana collection), and ‘where are they now?’ photos of the entire cast. And of course, that means we’re also scoping out the best and boldest beauty looks from that era. We’ve been loving Zara Larsson’s early aughts looks full of neon, sparkles, and of course dolphin keychains. And we can’t get enough of trends like colored hair pieces, dark lip liner, and iridescent eyeshadows.
But there’s no one who did it quite like the OG: Miley Cyrus. During her five-year stint as superstar Hannah Montana, Cyrus rocked blonde wigs, dresses over leggings (IYKY) and epic beauty looks that were certainly a sign of the times that are luckily preserved forever.
In honor of 20 years, here are all of our favorite throwback Hannah Montana looks, and make sure to pick up a few pointers to recreate these looks at home.
It's about glam time you treated yourself.

Some might say the smoky eye originated in the early 2000s, and if you ever went to a prom or school dance from the years 2002-2010, you probably dabbled in this look. This shadow style has certainly gotten a few upgrades over the years, but if you want to take it back 20 years ago, the key to achieving this bold look is metallic silver eyeshadow paired with a matte charcoal black shade.
Dip into the silver shade from the ICONIC LONDON Treat Yourself Eyeshadow Palette and dust your entire eye in it. Then, pick up a matte black shade, like the black one in the UOMA Black Magic Eyeshadow Palette and carve out a smoky effect starting from the outer corner of your eye blending inward. Make sure to line the bottom lash line with black eyeliner for a true Y2K moment.

What came first? Paris Hilton or bubblegum pink lip gloss? It’s hard to picture one without the other, but Hilton walked so Hannah Montana could run. This simple look packs a punch due to a softer version of the smoky eye we listed above and bright pink high-shine lips. Pick up a non-sticky gloss, like the R.E.M. BEAUTY Essential Drip Glossy Balm in the shade strawberry soda.

Whether you were hitting the red carpet for “Hannah Montana: The Movie” premiere or just walking the hallways on the way to your locker hoping to spot your crush, the early 2000s were all about lining the entire circle of your eye and then going around one more time just to make sure you really got it right. Bonus points if you put it in the water line, and bonus bonus points if it smudges instantly just moments after you apply it. Lucky for us, makeup has come a long way since then, so you can pick up the FENTY BEAUTY Flypencil Longwear Pencil Eyeliner that won’t move at all after application.

The much cooler, much sexier older sister of bubble gum lip gloss has to be the fully nude lip. You won’t find any overdrawn lips or any definition at all here. Instead, friends and family might wonder where your lip gloss ends and your real lips begin—because with this look, it’s incredibly hard to tell. However, Cyrus certainly makes the makeup style look good, which must be why we all couldn’t stop copying her 20 years ago.

You might think makeup artists invented monochromatic looks in the last few years, but Cyrus was doing it long before you ever knew what the word Instagram was. Nothing screams Y2K like these peachy shades she has swept onto her eyelids and lips. If you grab the FORMULA Z Pretty Magic 12-Pan Eyeshadow Palette, you can get this look in a flash. Pair it with the POLITE SOCIETY Polite Pout Glossy Lip Balm in Peach Bellini.

As a bonus look, we have Cyrus herself recreating her own early 2000s style with this updated take on her old smoky eye look. Instead of packing black eyeshadow onto her lids over the silver, Cyrus let the silver look shine while adding subtle black eyeliner to make the look pop.
As always, we bow down to our queen, and you can stream the “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special” on Disney+ now.
